Design Trends for Summer 2019
This year we’re keeping summer bright. You can achieve this style by using vivid or neutral colors, utilizing a variety of different patterns or wall art, and you can choose a minimalist approach or go big with lots of fun accessories. The options are endless, and with such a wide range of them to choose from, you’re bound to find the perfect one for you. See for yourself!
Splashes of Color
If you prefer neutral colors and shades over vibrant all-over color, then use splashes of accent colors to liven up your space. Using colorful accents like a radiant rug or pillows can add some color to a room without being overwhelming. Or create an accent colored wall and keep your decor neutral. The image below uses PPG Paint colors to show the accented wall color with some neutral accents such as a rug and bedroom furniture. 
Animal Prints
Animal prints are very popular this year. This is a good way for people to bring the elements of nature indoors. You can add as much or as little as you’d like and it may even be the change you need to go from subtle to wild.
Patterns
The benefit of using patterns to decorate with is that there are so many to choose from. And you don’t have to stick to just one. Patterns are meant to be mixed whether they match or not. Whether you’re into geometric shapes or eclectic patterns, bring them together for a look you’ll love. Here is an example of how to incorporate patterns into a kitchen, while using some fun colors as well. 
Plants and More Plants
Another fun way to bring the great outdoors inside is by adding plants. Plants have become a decorating staple this year. Not only are they are a unique way to add some life to your home, but they can also improve your air quality. You can hang plants, set them on the ground, or place them virtually anywhere you need to add some decoration. Pick plants that will sustain the area that you place them in, and be sure to give them the attention they need to maintain their healthy look.
Light Color Scheme
A light color scheme is perfect for the summer because it makes a room feel bright, which matches all the summer sun. Light colors are refreshing and soothing and they make it easy to incorporate other elements of design. Take this bathroom for example:

The use of wall art can elevate the design of a room. You can use wall art as a focal point for a room design and use it as inspiration for other elements of your room.
Lighter Window Treatments
Having light window treatments, such as white or cream colored curtains, will allow natural light into your home. With the summer days lasting longer and longer, the sun is a great source of light that is free and easy to use. Utilizing the sun as a resource for light in your home will not only save you money on your energy bill, but it’s an environmentally friendly alternative to using lamps and overhead lights.
